On display during the 2025 AHR Expo was LG's award-winning heat pump, which our feature writer, Michael Ridler, got to examine. Awarded the 2025 Innovation Award for Sustainable Solutions, LG Electronics' LG residential cold climate heat pump can operate at -35 C. It retains full heating capacity at -25 C and functions at 70 per cent capacity at -35 per cent C. Additionally, the heat pump incorporates a refrigerant cycle that prevents frost accumulation on the outdoor heat exchanger. It is equipped with a twin rotary inverter compressor that uses R-32 refrigerant.
